Xilinx launches
industry’s first
SmartNIC
platform to cloud
data centres
ilinx has announced the industry’s
first SmartNIC platform delivering
true convergence of network,
storage and compute acceleration
functions on a single device.
X
The Alveo U25 SmartNIC is designed to
bring the greater efficiency and lower
TCO benefits of SmartNICs to cloud
service providers, telcos and private
cloud data centre operators struggling
with increasing networking demands and
rising costs.
The U25 combines a highly optimised
SmartNIC platform with a powerful
and flexible FPGA-based engine that
supports full programmability and turnkey
accelerated applications.
The U25 delivers a comprehensive
SmartNIC platform to address the
industry’s most challenging demands
and workloads such as SDN, virtual
switching, NFV, NVMe-oF, electronic
trading, AI inference, video transcoding
and data analytics.
In addition, Xilinx announced its first
XtremeScale Ethernet adapter card in the
Open Compute Project (OCP) Spec 3.0
form factor and a proof of concept for the
world’s first FPGA-based OCP Accelerator
Module (OAM).
Powered by Xilinx’s industry-leading
FPGA technology, the Alveo U25
SmartNIC provides higher throughput and
a far more adaptable engine than SoC-
based NICs to allow cloud architects to
accelerate a wide range of functions and
applications quickly.
The Alveo U25 SmartNIC platform enables
turnkey accelerated applications that make
it easier for non-tier-1 cloud data centre
operators to deploy SmartNICs and quickly
reap the benefits. The U25 SmartNIC
supports turnkey applications from both
Xilinx and independent software vendors.

New data centre in Germany
proves Celigo’s commitment to
expansion strategy
eligo, a leading integration
Platform-as-a-Service
(iPaaS) provider for both
business and technical users, has
launched the centre in Hanover.
C
It will provide infrastructure and
compliance support based in Europe
for the company’s fast-growing
contingent of Europe, Middle East
and Africa (EMEA) customers.
The investment is part of the
company’s worldwide expansion
strategy to meet the rising demand
for its integration platform.
Jan Arendtsz, Founder and CEO of
Celigo, said: “We’re off to a terrific
start with our worldwide expansion
strategy. This new data centre
allows us to offer the same global
level of performance, security and
reliability from European servers.”
Last year, Celigo brought veteran
tech industry executive, Gert-
Jan Wijman, on board as Senior
Director for EMEA region, opened
an Amsterdam office as its European
headquarters and added to its London-
based staff. The opening of the data
centre is the latest investment in
resources for EMEA customers and
partners.
“Serving our hundreds of EMEA
customers locally is a priority for
Celigo,” said Arendtsz. “I look forward
to continuing to work with our EMEA
colleagues to deliver solutions to
customers worldwide.”
As business app usage spirals upwards
across all industries, it’s becoming
more critical than ever for companies
to find integration solutions to break
down data silos so they can automate
processes and leverage data to
generate insights.
Celigo’s unique approach to iPaaS
is increasingly popular because it
simplifies integration for business
users and IT professionals alike,
connecting applications to facilitate the
free flow of data and enable agility and
innovation at an unprecedented scale. ◊
