NEWS Nokia enhances fibre access portfolio to accelerate 5G okia has announced it is expanding its fibre access portfolio to include new solutions and innovations that will enable service providers to deliver a gigabit experience to everyone, sooner. The enhanced portfolio includes a new Lightspan MF access node designed for the 5G era, a new Beacon 6 in-home gateway that supports 5G mobile data offloading and several Nokia Bell Labs innovations that reduce latency to create a seamless 5G experience. By combining the N strengths of FTTH and 5G, Nokia is helping operators accelerate 5G deployments and deploy gigabit services in the most cost- effective way. To effectively deliver on 5G, operators will need a transport network that can provide the high-capacity, low-latency performance and small form factor needed to support densification. By using existing FTTH infrastructure, operators can quickly gain the footprint and performance needed to support 5G. They can also save up to 50% in transport costs by eliminating the need to build a dedicated transport network and quickly move to future fibre evolutions like 25G PON and beyond to ensure 5G needs continue to be met. With Nokia’s new Lightspan MF-2 fibre access node, operators can easily and seamlessly add mobile 5G transport capabilities to their existing FTTH infrastructure. Based on the Nokia’s Quillion chipset family, the system is optimised for low-latency applications and features an ultra-high capacity architecture. The evolution towards Wi-Fi 6 in the home means that service providers can now effectively offload 5G traffic onto a home Wi-Fi network without disruptions. This will free up valuable 5G capacity for mobile devices and applications like self-driving vehicles. Nokia’s new Beacon 6 mesh Wi-Fi solution supports Wi-Fi 6, which includes several core 5G technologies, along with two Nokia Bell Labs innovations designed to further optimise latency. Huawei strengthens enterprise offerings with focus on emerging technologies uawei has unveiled several new products and initiatives suited to help enterprises step into the fully digital era, covering areas like storage systems, Wi-Fi 6, AI and data centre performance. H This includes the launch of four products for the enterprise market: the OptiXtrans DC908, SmartLi UPS, the next generation of OceanStor Dorado, and the AirEngine Wi-Fi 6. • Huawei OptiXtrans DC908 helps enterprise customers easily cope with the challenges of massive data flows in the cloud era, continuously reduce the cost per bit, maximise the value of optical fibres and improve customer’s return on investment. • Huawei SmartLi uses the industry’s secure battery cells. The UPS, the battery array and the battery pack form a three-layer management www.intelligentdatacentres.com system to eliminate perceived blind spots. SmartLi has a unique built-in current balancing control module to achieve battery module-level fault tolerance design and eliminate single points of failure. • The OceanStor Dorado intelligent all-flash storage, as an end-to- end ultra-high-speed platform, achieves industry-leading 20 million IOPS and 0.1ms latency. The fully interconnected and high-reliability SmartMatrix architecture allows a single system to tolerate the failure of up to seven controllers (out of eight), ensuring the continuity of core enterprise services. • Powered by Huawei 5G, AirEngine Wi-Fi 6 is the industry’s first Wi-Fi with a peak rate exceeding 100Gbps. The revolutionary product can significantly improve network experience in various scenarios. In the field of data centre management, the Huawei OptiXtrans DC908 solution has also just been recognised by GlobalData as a leader in architecture, performance, modularity, line interfaces and network management.
