Proximity expands UK Edge data centre network

NEWS roximity Data Centres , a

P regional Edge colocation data centre provider , announced

the immediate availability of three more high-quality facilities .
The new sites in Liverpool , Chester and Coventry add a further 8 MW of IT load capacity and more than 80,000 sqft of net technical space to the company ’ s
growing UK network of strategically located Internet Edge data centres .
These latest acquisitions join the company ’ s Wakefield , Nottingham and Bridgend locations , adding a further 21 employees , who are predominantly in engineering and operational roles . The announcement is in line with the company ’ s growth strategy which will expand Proximity ’ s UK network of regional Edge data centres to 20 sites within the next 12 – 18 months . This will enable the company to offer UK-wide coverage with all its Edge data centres , selected for their proximity to major conurbation areas .

strategic partnership established by the two companies early last year .
“ Together , analytics and AI from SAS , with the power of Microsoft Azure , will underpin the new operating system for Digital Transformation ,” explained Roderick Crawford , VP and Country Manager for SAS UK and Ireland .
The partnership empowers the cloud by building on SAS ’ market leadership in analytics and Artificial Intelligence and Microsoft Azure ’ s cloud leadership , supporting a shared vision to further democratise AI and analytics .
Building on the global partnership , the new data centres have just opened in London and Frankfurt , bringing the total number to five , with others already open in the US , Australia and Brazil . More are set to open in various locations around the world over the coming months .
The two companies are giving customers a more seamless path to the cloud that provides faster , more powerful and easier access to SAS solutions and enables trusted decisions with analytics that everyone – regardless of skill level – can understand . This will include optimising SAS Viya , the latest release of the company ’ s cloud native offering , for Azure as well as integrating SAS ’ deep portfolio of industry solutions , from fraud to risk to retail , into the Azure Marketplace .
