B officially launched its enterprise data centre located in Hamala

in the Gulf state . The launch was in the presence of HE Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed , Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications , and Chairman of Batelco Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa . According to Batelco , the launch of data centre is a remarkable achievement for the company as it supports the Kingdom ’ s achievements in the telecommunications sector , which is in line with the Fifth Telecommunications Plan for the development of the sector , ensuring its readiness to support and develop the Bahrain ’ s digital economy .
Batelco ’ s data centre is designed in accordance with international standards for the construction of such centres
BATELCO data centre opens
and is the third data centre of the company . The centre has achieved Tier III certification for design and build from the Uptime Institute , a global authority that specialises in evaluating global data centres through a series of performancebased assessments designed to measure progress and efficiency of data centres across the world .
With an area of 12,236 square metres , the centre is equipped with a capacity of 2.7 megawatts that services 250 working cabins , making it the largest data centre for the commercial sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain , which is ready to provide hosting services for enterprise customers .
HE Mohammed said : “ The telecommunications sector is a key pillar in the success and prosperity of Bahrain ’ s economy , particularly the digital economy and I would like to congratulate Batelco on its achievement in launching a worldclass certified data centre .”
