NEXTDC announces access to Google Cloud in Melbourne

organisations can connect locally and natively to Google Cloud ’ s Melbourne zone from NextDC ’ s M2 data centre .
M2 Melbourne is the newest cloud hosting location for Google Cloud , offering two Google Interconnect access that offer organisations low-latency , secure access directly to the Google Cloud Platform ( GCP ) from anywhere in Australia .
Connecting directly to Google Cloud in Melbourne , instead of transiting to Sydney , will return a minimum 10x performance improvement in terms of latency , enabling a sub-millisecond round-trip time ( RTT ).
Craig Scroggie , CEO , NEXTDC , said : “ Google ’ s new Melbourne cloud region and this enhanced level of local , native access to Google Cloud that we are able to offer gives our customers the major advantage of speed and as little as zero latency .”
He added : “ As our customers continue to modernise and mature their cloud and transformation strategies , NEXTDC continues to support their journey by enabling the safe , seamless and low complexity interconnection capability that businesses are increasingly dependent on .”
Furthermore , with NEXTDC ’ s interconnected network of Google Cloud Interconnect locations in Melbourne , Sydney and Brisbane , customers benefit from geo-redundancy and service reliability .

Equinix opens new IBX data centre in Singapore

E quinix has announced the opening of its fifth International Business Exchange ( IBX ) data centre in Singapore , SG5 .

Singapore indicated that digitising their IT infrastructure was a top priority , with 66 % believing interconnection will help them navigate challenges .
The SG5 IBX is directly connected to the four existing Equinix IBX data centres in Singapore via low-latency dark fibre links and will enable customers to securely interconnect with more than 700 companies in the market . This expansion of the company ’ s global platform allows customers to choose from a broad range of network services from over 200 providers and interconnect directly to customers and partners on Platform Equinix in their digital supply chain .
Sandra Ng , Group Vice President , Practice Group , IDC Asia / Pacific , said : “ The rise of new data centres built in Singapore will further strengthen the country ’ s Smart City digital infrastructure and help drive business ecosystems towards collaboration and co-innovation with sustainability in mind for the future .”
