CTERA to support major US Department of Veteran Affairs file storage modernisation contract

TERA , a distributed cloud file storage leader , has announced that Peraton , a leading mission capability

C integrator and transformative enterprise IT provider , has selected CTERA ’ s file platform to support a US $ 497 million contract to provide Infrastructure-as-a-Managed-Service ( laaMS ) for the US Department of Veterans Affairs ( VA ) storage and computing infrastructure facilities across the US and globally .

Under the contract , CTERA , which provides a global file system included on the Department of Defence Information Network ( DoDIN ) Approved Products List ( APL ), will deliver file services for mission-critical workloads , connecting up to 300 distributed sites to the VA Enterprise Cloud powered by AWS GovCloud ( US ).
The solution design is based on centrally managed CTERA Edge Filers deployed over on-premises hyperconverged infrastructure , enabling the consolidation of VA ’ s legacy Network-Attached Systems ( NAS ) and eliminating applicationspecific infrastructure silos .
All data is securely replicated to AWS GovCloud ( US ), with special added support from CTERA for AWS Snowball to facilitate efficient bulk data transfer .

Equinix to expand into Africa with acquisition of MainOne

E its intended acquisition of MainOne , a leading West African data centre and connectivity solutions provider , with presence in Nigeria , Ghana and Côte d ’ Ivoire .

The acquisition is expected to close Q1 of 2022 , subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions including the requisite regulatory approvals .
Charles Meyers , President and CEO , Equinix , said : “ The acquisition of MainOne will represent a critical point of entry for Platform Equinix into the expansive and rapidly growing African market . MainOne ’ s leading interconnection position and experienced management team represent critical assets in our aspirations to be the leading neutral provider of digital infrastructure in Africa .”
The transaction has an enterprise value of US $ 320 million and is expected to be AFFO accretive upon close , excluding integration costs , marking the first step in Equinix ’ s long-term strategy to become a leading African carrier neutral digital infrastructure company . With more than 200 million people , Nigeria is one of Africa ’ s largest economies and , along with Ghana , has become an established data centre hub . This makes the acquisition a pivotal entry point for Equinix into the continent .
