Digital Edge has announced the establishment of a joint venture in the Philippines with the Threadborne Group , a local family office focused on technology and real estate . The joint venture will construct and operate a 10MW data centre in Manila , with a capital commitment in excess of US $ 100 million collectively from both parties . The new data centre will be based on Digital Edge ’ s next-generation architecture and operated under the Digital Edge brand name .

Equinix has opened a new International Business Exchange ( IBX ) data centre in Perth , Australia , named PE3 . With an initial investment of US $ 54 million , PE3 is the company ’ s 18th IBX in Australia and strengthens Perth ’ s position as the digital gateway between Australia , Asia-Pacific and the Middle East . Perth is a strategic part of Australia ’ s Internet infrastructure due to its proximity to south-east Asia and direct connectivity with Asia-Pacific , Europe ,
Middle East and Africa regions via subsea cables .
