EDITOR ’ S QUESTION

his is a huge ‘ crystal ball ’ case here so when
T we talk about the future , I think we ’ re perhaps talking about five to 10 years out . So this is something which is not entirely my idea , but has previously been mentioned to me – I think we ’ re going to see data centres become more a part of the community and become more integrated .
Data centres are getting really bad press and rightly so . Basically , it is very highly underutilised assets – for the most part generators and UPSs – which are not redundant but are hardly ever used . There ’ s an opportunity , in reference to Demand Response , along with other things that can be done in terms of heat reuse , which can benefit communities as a whole . So I think we ’ ll probably start to see data centres becoming more widely integrated , especially in terms of the Demand Response being where data centres can support local communities as well as the grid .

can see data centres becoming more
I digitalised . I think the data centre operators and developers need to start embracing third-party technology within the infrastructure because as a manufacturer , we ’ re at the cutting-edge of what we do and we bring new technologies to market to support and they are a little reluctant to take on new technology . They know what they like , they trust what they use , and it ’ s about breaking down that barrier .
I CAN SEE DATA CENTRES BECOMING MORE DIGITALISED .
