PROJECT FOCUS
GLOBAL
Telefónica has signed an agreement for the sale
of 11 data centres to Asterion Industrial Partners,
the pan-European infrastructure fund manager. The
transaction perimeter covers 11 data centres with an
installed service capacity of 29 MW located in seven
countries. The sale includes the signing of a housing
services agreement. Telefónica will continue to provide and
manage the services it has been offering its customers
from these centres and will maintain the direct relationship
with them. In turn, this agreement will allow Asterion to
leverage the sales network of the Telefónica Group’s
operations to market the remaining capacity of the
data centres.
AFRICA
With the official launch of the Microsoft Data
Centres in South Africa, Blue Turtle has announced
a suite of services that enables a customer’s journey
to the cloud. Blue Turtle will deliver Azure Migration
Services that encompass discovery, assessment, migration,
optimisation, operation and security. The services leverage
technologies, which analyse a customer’s existing environment,
optimise system utilisation prior to migration, create the
target Azure specification, assess Azure costs and provide for
automated migration. Blue Turtle is currently assisting many
enterprise customers with assessments that will help them
understand their environment and plan and migrate in
a controlled manner, allowing them to embrace the
Microsoft Cloud offerings.
