Scala Data Centers launches the largest vertical data centre in Latin America

S cala Data Centers has launched the largest vertical data centre in Latin America , SGRUTB04 , with a total capacity of 18MW .

Located in the Tamboré Campus , the company ’ s complex in Greater São Paulo , Brazil , SGRUTB04 , goes into service dedicated to a single hyperscale client , with a commitment to full capacity for more than a decade .
“ Latin America ’ s largest vertical data centre , SGRUTB04 , is an excellent example of Scala ’ s multi-build approach ,” said Marcos Peigo , CEO of Scala . “ With this , we introduce the concept of built-in reserved capacity , bringing unprecedented scalability to the Latin American sector . This approach allows our clients to grow their business in a sustainable way and in record time for decades .”
With almost 140,000 sq ft of total built area , this new Scala data centre is 56 metres high , has seven floors , with four dedicated to data halls , which add up to more than 1,500 racks .
Developed according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ( LEED ) certification , which is focused on sustainable constructions , the single-tenant data centre has a modern refrigeration system with indirect free cooling ( technology to optimise energy use at low temperatures ), a redundant UPS system and very high energy efficiency with PUE ( Power Usage Effectiveness ) around 1,35 , one of the lowest rates in the region .
SGRUTB04 is also equipped with meet-me rooms , dock , storage area and an office fully dedicated to the customer .

Berlin provides major connectivity hub for Yondr ’ s latest data centre project

Y developer , owner operator and service provider of data centres , has announced its plans to develop a number of data centre facilities in Berlin , Germany .

The first phase of the project , located in the municipality of Ragow , is expected to deliver 10MW of capacity and is expected to be ready for service in 2024 . When fully developed , the data centre campus will have a total capacity of 42MW .
Yondr ’ s latest project in Berlin will bring the company ’ s total IT capacity in the German market to 82MW and deliver critical network routes across key German and European metros , including opening up new network routes into Eastern
Europe . This announcement follows the recent launch of the company ’ s 40MW data centre facility in Frankfurt .
The German data centre market size will see an investment of US $ 6.46 billion by 2026 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 2.35 % during the 2020-2026 period . Berlin ’ s strength as an emerging technology hub and its proximity to major network routes makes this metro a highly attractive location for cloud providers looking for a viable alternative to Frankfurt .
