Gracing this month ’ s cover is Tom Cannon , Enterprise Architecture Manager at University College Dublin , who tells us how Ireland ’ s largest university has upgraded its data centre cooling system with Schneider Electric . Find out more about how the new cooling equipment has resulted in an inherently more resilient data centre , on page 47 .
For this month ’ s ‘ Editor ’ s Question ’, I was intrigued to find out what factors are set to drive demand for data centre transformation across Europe . are failing to connect the dots between cyber and physical security . He says that in order to secure an organisation against cyberattacks , it should approach security holistically .
A hot topic across the industry currently and for the foreseeable future is the data centre skills gap . ‘ Expert Opinion ’ explores how to build an appealing apprenticeship environment for those looking to recruit potential candidates hoping to secure a career in the data centre space . This can be found on page 40 .
On page 62 , Gemma Reeves , Business Unit Manager in Data Centres at Alfa Laval , elaborates on how data centres could soon become the beating heart of many communities . She explains how to achieve this goal and what legislative changes are required to make it a reality .
To round off , we ‘ Deep Dive ’ with Ed Bissell , Sales Director , Stellium Data Centres , who talks about how he landed in his role and how he likes to relax and unwind outside the office . Have a read of this on page 66 .
