COLT DCS PLANS NEW DATA CENTRE IN CHENNAI TO EXPAND PRESENCE IN APAC

Colt Data Centre Services ( Colt DCS ), a leading global provider of hyperscale and large enterprise data centre solutions , has announced the expansion of its presence to Southern India with the acquisition of a new 10-acre plot in Chennai .

It plans to deliver a hyperscale data centre in the fast-growing digital hub of Ambattur , Chennai by 2027 .
Chennai is India ’ s fifth largest city by GDP and population , has a large and quickly growing digital market with a goal to become a US $ 1 trillion economy by 2030 .
With the country ’ s highest network speeds and serving as a major landing station for fibre networks , it directly connects India to the rest of the world . Colt DCS ’ expansion to the region will support the rapid digitalisation of industries in the area by providing the IT power capacity , security and accessibility required for businesses looking to scale up their operations .
The new site builds on Colt DCS ’ growth and will mark its 18th data centre globally , providing the infrastructure capacity for the rapid digitalisation , mass cloud adoption and emerging technologies . The plan also builds on Colt DCS ’ presence in India following the phase one completion and first customer in
its Mumbai data centre . The new site is set to deliver a minimum of 70MW of IT capacity .
The site is set to be completed in 2027 . Colt DCS is working with local contractors and supply chains to reduce the environmental impact of the Scope 3 emissions and stimulate the economy of the surrounding area .

NTT , a leading global IT infrastructure and services company , has announced its Global Data Centers division will develop and operate its first data centre campus in the Paris market , a key data centre region in Europe .

The campus is comprised of 14.4 hectares ( approx . 35.5 acres ) and will support a planned capacity of 84MW of critical IT load across three data centres .
“ We will develop our presence in the Paris metro area in close partnership with the local municipalities , partners and the government . The addition of Paris builds upon our long-term proven track record of developing and operating in continental Europe and the UK and is a precursor for NTT ’ s further expansion and growth in both , existing and additional new markets in Europe ,” Winkler added .
The site is located 50km south of Paris in the municipalities of Le Coudray-Montceaux and Corbeil-Essonnes , in close proximity to key digital infrastructure and has power reserved for day one deployment .

Florian Winkler , CEO , EMEA and Global Chief Operating Officer , NTT Global Data Centers , added : “ This investment complements our existing and growing presence in Frankfurt , London and Amsterdam , and will complete our footprint in the FLAP Tier 1 markets in Europe .”
