We hear a lot about AI and Edge compute , what does this have to do with collaborative ecosystems ?
AI continues to be the topic of most conferences and events but what ’ s been most noticeable this year is the pace of change . It ' s hard to get your head around it and it ’ s so easy to fall behind very quickly .
We hear about compute and GPUs and that ' s been great for headlines and for some people ' s share portfolios , but what they ' re really doing is creating and connecting data . The conversation now is about how businesses take advantage of that opportunity and we ' ve taken this year to figure it out . From the spending data , people pressed pause on some of their investments 12 months ago . We all felt that across the industry – those businesses knew change was coming and tried to avoid making the wrong decision .
What ' s happened this year is there ’ s been a flurry of businesses trying to evolve their differentiator in the AI space and there are lots of them . People are using AI to deliver on their varied business goals . In this instance , they ’ re using data to do so and need to access it quickly and securely . So , the foundations of regional ecosystems and how they play into the AI marketplace are critical .
Why are ecosystems relevant today and into the future ?
I can ' t imagine they wouldn ' t still be relevant in the future . I ' ve been in IT long enough to see the cycles – maybe it will come full circle and we ' ll get back to the model where it ' ll be the SIs running things again . I ' d be surprised though because of the variety people get from having all those different specialisms in existence . I ' ve been in tech for 30 years and I have never , ever seen the pace of change I ' ve seen this year .
It ' s survival of the fittest ; if people stand still and don ’ t take advantage of the market opportunity , the market moves on and we see them fail fast . We also see people who ' ve maybe come from more traditional industries , who have focused on an AI solution and completely pivoted their business ( and seen great success ). �
