“ We are fortunate to have our own data centre at Explorer House , which is complemented by using other providers like Microsoft ’ s Azure ,” he tells us . “ This combination offers flexibility in data storage , ensuring resiliency , high availability and data bandwidth for processing and updating the OS National Geographic Database .

“ By leveraging both on-premises and cloud-based data centres , we can efficiently manage the vast amounts of geospatial data we collect . This hybrid approach allows us to scale our operations as needed , providing the necessary infrastructure to support our data processing and storage requirements .”

“ What initially attracted me to the data centre sector was the potential for growth . All you have to do is go online or look at the newspaper to see that the sector is booming and it ’ s only going to accelerate over the coming five to 10 years ,” said Burke .

“ As data centres expand globally , driven by the growing demand for cloud services , AI and digital infrastructure , the need for specialised legal expertise is also at an all-time high .

“ It was clear to me early on that there was a need for further institutionalisation in this space . As data centres grow in scale and complexity , so too do the legal , regulatory and compliance challenges they face .
