NOKIA LEADS GIGAOM DATA CENTRE SWITCHING REPORT FOR FOURTH YEAR
GigaOm’ s experts evaluated nine leading vendors in the data centre switching market against a detailed set of criteria, providing a framework for technology teams to assess
their options. Nokia’ s solution excelled due to its hardware portfolio, supporting speeds from 1 GbE to 800 GbE, and its powerful Event-Driven Automation( EDA) platform. The EDA platform received high praise for its highly automated approach to the design, deployment, and ongoing operation of data centre networks.
Nokia’ s SR Linux, its modern network software, also received high praise for its flexible design and potential for AI integration. GigaOm pointed out that Nokia’ s developer tools give network teams significant control to build their own applications. The report also noted Nokia’ s strong reliability in handling failures and recovering from problems.
“ Nokia was classified as an Outperformer given its strong feature delivery in the last year, which resulted in strong score results across the report’ s key and emerging features. The Nokia solution can be easily integrated into existing heterogeneous deployments, making it easy for organisations to ramp up their Nokia-based data center network deployments,” said Andrew Green, Analyst at GigaOm.
Matthew Prince, Co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare
Cloudflare has launched a suite of new tools aimed at turbocharging the creation of AI agents, potentially democratising access to the developing technology.
Among the key announcements is the industry’ s first remote Model Context Protocol( MCP) server, now generally available. MCP is an open-source standard enabling AI agents to directly interact with external services, moving beyond simple instructions to autonomously completing tasks like sending emails or scheduling meetings. Previously limited to local operation, Cloudflare’ s remote MCP server allows agents to securely connect and interact with services over the internet without needing a locally hosted server, retaining context for a more persistent user experience.
Cloudflare is also offering free tier access to its Durable Objects, a crucial component for building context-aware AI agents. These objects combine computation and storage in a serverless environment, ideal for agents needing to remember past interactions and adapt accordingly.
Finally, the general availability of Cloudflare’ s Workflows will enable developers to construct durable, multi-step applications infused with AI.
CLOUDFLARE BOOSTS AI AGENT DEVELOPMENT WITH NEW REMOTE SERVER TECH
Matthew Prince, Co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, said:“ Cloudflare was built for this moment. First, we built the most interconnected network on the planet. Then, we built a developer platform that took advantage of that network to run code within 50 milliseconds of 95 % of everyone online.”
