Divcon Controls pioneers advanced controls solutions for liquid-cooled data centres
The company supports Aligned Data Centers’ new Advanced Cooling Lab, introducing intelligent control systems that enhance performance, adaptability and sustainability in liquid-cooled environments.
Divcon Controls, a leading innovator in mission critical Building Management System( BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System( EPMS) solutions, is playing an instrumental role in the development of Aligned Data Centers’ Advanced Cooling Lab, which recently opened in Phoenix, AZ.
The collaboration highlights Divcon Controls’ commitment to developing sophisticated control solutions specifically designed to manage the unique and evolving challenges of mechanical assets within liquid-cooled data centre environments, critical for the demands of AI and HPC – while emphasising sustainable operations.
The unveiling of Aligned Data Centers’ Advanced Cooling Lab marks a significant step forward in addressing the thermal demands of high-density computing. Divcon Controls served as the controls vendor for this cuttingedge facility, which is dedicated to testing and innovating advanced cooling solutions for Graphics Processing Units( GPUs) and emerging AI accelerators.
Kevin Timmons, Chief Executive Officer, Divcon Controls, said:“ Our involvement with Aligned Data Centers’ Advanced Cooling Lab has provided us with invaluable experience at the forefront of liquid cooling technology. We are actively developing and deploying advanced control solutions that not only optimise the performance of these sophisticated systems but also enhance their efficiency, reliability and adaptability, contributing significantly to the sustainability goals of modern data centres.”
The shift towards liquid cooling – whether through direct-to-chip, immersion or hybrid approaches – introduces new layers of complexity for controls systems. Divcon Controls is focused on delivering solutions that:
• Intelligently manage fluid dynamics and heat exchange: Ensuring precise control over coolant flow rates, temperatures and pressures to maximise thermal transfer efficiency and prevent overheating, thereby reducing overall energy consumption.
• Integrate seamlessly with diverse mechanical assets: From pumps, heat exchangers and cooling distribution units( CDUs) to leak detection systems, Divcon Controls’ solutions provide a unified and intelligent control layer that promotes optimal resource utilisation.
• Enable dynamic adaptation to fluctuating IT loads: As AI workloads scale and shift, our controls systems are designed to rapidly adjust cooling capacity, minimising energy consumption while maintaining optimal operating conditions, leading to a more sustainable energy footprint.
• Provide granular visibility and predictive analytics: Offering data center operators unparalleled insight into the health and performance of their liquid cooling infrastructure, enabling proactive maintenance and preventing downtime, which in turn extends asset lifecycles and reduces waste.
• Support hybrid cooling environments: Facilitating the seamless transition and interplay between traditional air-cooled and advanced liquid-cooled systems, as demonstrated in Aligned’ s Advanced Cooling Lab, promoting efficiency and adaptability for future growth.
“ Our collaboration with industry leaders like Aligned Data Centers underscores our commitment to innovation and our dedication to solving the most pressing challenges in data center infrastructure,” said Timmons.
