INDIA
The India data centre growth is experiencing remarkable capacity expansion to meet soaring digital demands. In 2024, the operational data centre capacity reached 1,110MW, projected to surge to approximately 1,600MW by the end of this year. This growth trajectory is set to continue, with estimates indicating expansion to about 2,070 MW by the close of 2025. By 2025, the total data centre in India in terms of installed IT load capacity is anticipated to hit 3,983.22MW, showcasing significant advancements in computational power. Hyperscale players have risen from five in 2019 to 15 in 2024.
CANADA
InfraRed Capital Partners, a leading international infrastructure asset manager and a part of Sun Life, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Rogers Communications’ data centres business, on behalf of InfraRed’ s value-add strategy. With nine Tier 2 and 3 data centres across key Canadian cities, the business has an established footprint, a strong operational team and a long-standing, diverse customer base. The business is well-positioned to meet evolving demands with up to 49MW of capacity and a range of secure colocation, cloud and managed services. Completion of the transaction is expected by the end of the year.
USA
The International Data Center Authority( IDCA) announced that ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines( STT GDC Philippines) has achieved G2 Design Certification for its flagship 124MW STT Fairview data centre campus. This milestone comes as part of an ongoing collaboration, in which IDCA is conducting a comprehensive audit of STT GDC Philippines’ entire portfolio. IDCA’ s rigorous evaluation encompasses the design, construction and operation of all sites, ensuring compliance with the latest global standards. The STT Fairview design is now officially recognised as a certified G2 data centre, positioned to become the country’ s largest carrierneutral and sustainable campus.
GIBRALTAR
A major data centre delivering up to 250MW by 2033 is to be built in Gibraltar by Pelagos
Data Centres. Announced at a launch event at the offices of the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Hon. Fabian Picardo, the state-of-the-art facility is expected to attract investment of approximately £ 1.8 billion. The facility will be constructed in five phases at a 20,000 square metres site near the Port of Gibraltar. It is the largest current development project in the territory by value and among the largest in its history. It is funded entirely by private investment and backed by the Government of Gibraltar.
