ATNORTH EXPANDS TO NORWAY WITH NEW MEGA SITE IN HAUGALAND
atNorth, a leading Nordic high-density colocation and built-tosuit data centre provider, has announced its expansion into Norway with the acquisition of land for a mega data centre site in Haugaland. This marks a major milestone for the company, establishing its footprint across all Nordic countries and further reinforcing its commitment to delivering sustainable, scalable infrastructure in prime locations across the region.
The 36-hectare plot within Haugaland Business Park will be the location for atNorth’ s new planned data centre, NOR01. The facility is designed to support high-density workloads and hyperscale deployments. Initial phases will deliver 120MW, with a ramp up to 350MW.
Power availability for the site is projected for 2028. This will be supported by the construction of two substations, one developed by Statnett, Norway’ s transmission system operator and one by Fagne, the regional grid provider. In line with atNorth’ s sustainability strategy, the company is actively exploring heat reuse opportunities in partnership with local stakeholders within the business park to maximise the site’ s energy efficiency and environmental impact.
“ We are very pleased to welcome atNorth to Haugaland,” said Monika Lindanger, Mayor of Tysvær Municipality.“ This project
will not only bring in new investment and innovation to the region but will also support our local community through training and employment opportunities, our economy via sustainable industry development and our circular economy with beneficial heat reuse partnerships. We’ re proud to be part of this next chapter in the Nordic data centre evolution.”
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres( STT GDC), a leading global data centre provider, has announced the opening of STT Seoul 1, its first data centre in South Korea, establishing a strategic foothold for STT GDC in one of Asia’ s most advanced digital markets.
Developed and operated through a joint venture between STT GDC( 60 %) and Hyosung Heavy Industries( 40 %), the move extends STT GDC’ s platform to support customers deploying AI and cloud infrastructure across Northeast Asia.
South Korea is a strategically important market for highperformance digital infrastructure, underpinned by strong enterprise digitalisation and growing demand for compute capacity. The opening of STT Seoul 1 reflects STT GDC’ s broader approach to expanding in markets where longterm digital demand, infrastructure readiness and customer requirements are converging. The facility is designed to support a range of hyperscale and enterprise deployments, including evolving high-density workloads.
“ AI infrastructure demand is increasingly concentrating in markets where digital capability, power availability and customer requirements come together,” said Charles Chulhoy Huh, Country Head, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres( Korea).“ STT Seoul
STT GDC LAUNCHES ITS FIRST DATA CENTRE IN SOUTH KOREA
1 establishes an important foundation for STT GDC’ s presence in Korea, extending a globally consistent platform into a key Northeast Asian market, where customers are scaling increasingly advanced workloads and require infrastructure that is resilient, efficient and built for long-term growth.”
Located in Gasan-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, STT Seoul 1 comprises approximately 40,000 square metres of gross floor area and supports up to 30MW of IT load.
