New fibre route
to connect
SSE Enterprise
Telecoms network
to NGD data centre

a new carrier agreement with SSE
Enterprise Telecoms.

SSE Enterprise Telecoms has ordered a
new fibre route in order to connect its
12,000km UK-wide network to the NGD
(Next Generation Data) data centre in
Wales. This follows an increase in demand
for high capacity services to the data
centre and the rest of the UK.
SSE Enterprise Telecoms specialises
in providing high capacity, long distant
fibre, optical and Ethernet services.
Nextgenaccess’ new 60km fibre route
which is nearing completion between
Bristol (Bradley Stoke) and the NGD data
centre near Newport, South Wales was
the perfect solution.
Mark Weller, Managing Director of
Nextgenaccess, said: “We are very pleased
to be meeting SSE Enterprise Telecoms’
requirements. Nextgenaccess is able to
respond more quickly than most to the
growing capacity demands of carriers
and mobile operators by using our DPA /
PIA powers and also specialist non-road
fibre expertise. We can deploy full fibre
infrastructure in strategic areas of the UK
more easily and be more cost-effective
than our competitors.”
Meeting the ultrafast broadband
requirements of underserved businesses
and the public sector, Nextgenaccess
specialises in high speed connectivity and
bespoke fibre.
It is licensed to use Openreach
infrastructure to deploy fibre networks
under Duct and Pole Access (DPA) /
Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) and
can also use Access to Infrastructure
(ATI) legislation for access to other
infrastructure including canal ducts or
utility infrastructure.

Cyxtera continues European
expansion with new
Amsterdam facility

company, has announced
the opening of its latest European
data centre in Amsterdam slated
to commence business operations
during the first quarter of 2020.

Cyxtera’s newest facility in
Amsterdam (AMS1) will provide
a world-class, highly connected
secure infrastructure platform
to help customers in the rapidly
evolving regulatory landscape.
Additionally, the company
announced plans to expand its CXD
on-demand data centre platform to
Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
The new Amsterdam facility will
expand the company’s global
footprint to 2.9 million square feet
and 248 megawatts. The facility
was selected in partnership with
CyrusOne, a real estate investment
trust (REIT).
Cyxtera is leasing 29,000 square
feet of technical space and three
megawatts of power at AMS1, a
data centre campus in Polanen Park.
The Netherlands is among the most
connected countries and one of the
most advanced data centre markets in
Europe. Amsterdam is home to AMS-IX,
a world leading Internet exchange.
“With the launch of our Amsterdam data
centre, we’re continuing to answer the
demand coming from our customers,”
said Alex Pearson, Senior Vice President
