IB VOGT AND AIRTRUNK DELIVER MALAYSIA’ S FIRST RENEWABLE VPPA FOR A DATA CENTRE

AirTrunk, the Asia Pacific and Middle East hyperscale data centre specialist, and ib vogt, a global multi-technology renewable energy platform, have reached a major milestone under Malaysia’ s Corporate Green Power Programme( CGPP), with the commencement of commercial operations for a 29.99 MWac solar project supporting AirTrunk’ s operations in Malaysia.

The project is the first renewable energy Virtual Power Purchase Agreement( VPPA) for a data centre under the programme and marks an important step in accelerating the country’ s energy transition while supporting the rapid growth of cloud and AI infrastructure in the region.
Under the long-term agreement, the solar facility, developed by ib vogt is now generating and delivering clean energy into Malaysia’ s grid. The milestone demonstrates how collaboration between digital infrastructure providers and renewable energy developers can help meet growing energy demand sustainably while advancing national decarbonisation goals.
“ At ib vogt, our purpose is to change the world by making decarbonisation a reality for our partners,” David Ludwig, CEO of ib vogt APAC.“ We are proud to have delivered this project
safely and responsibly, adhering to our deeply held belief that culture, anchored in ownership and integrity, is the most powerful enabler of strategy. This achievement reinforces our commitment to leaving the planet in a better state than we found it while fostering inclusive economic development in the communities where we operate.”

Damien Spillane, Chief Customer & Innovation Officer of AirTrunk said:“ This milestone demonstrates how digital infrastructure growth and the energy transition can advance together. As demand for cloud and AI infrastructure accelerates across the region, securing renewable energy supply is critical to supporting sustainable digital growth. This long-term collaboration contributes new renewable energy capacity to Malaysia’ s grid while supporting AirTrunk’ s commitment to match 100 % of electricity consumption across our data centre platform with renewable energy by 2030.” A on, a leading global professional services firm, has announced the next evolution of its proprietary Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program( DCLP), expanding capacity to US $ 5 billion while broadening the integrated risk solutions that support digital infrastructure assets from development through long-term operations.

" Digital infrastructure has become one of the most important and capital-intensive asset classes in the global economy," said Joe Peiser, CEO of Risk Capital, Aon. " As clients build larger and more complex data centre portfolios, they need access to greater insurance capacity alongside solutions that strengthen resilience throughout the asset lifecycle. Expanding DCLP to US $ 5 billion demonstrates our ability to help clients access capital, manage risk and scale with confidence."
The expanded program reflects Aon’ s Reliable by Design approach to digital infrastructure and extends DCLP beyond traditional insurance placement. By bringing together insurance capacity, engineering expertise and risk intelligence earlier in the development process, Aon helps clients reduce transition risk, improve resilience and build digital infrastructure assets that are bankable, insurable at scale and resilient under stress.
AON EXPANDS DATA CENTER LIFECYCLE INSURANCE PROGRAM TO US $ 5 BILLION
The enhanced DCLP now provides a broad scope of benefits including up to $ 5 billion in Construction All Risks( CAR), Delay in Start-Up( DSU) and Property Damage and Business Interruption coverage, backed by a panel of A-rated insurers. In addition, up to US $ 1 billion of terrorism capacity through existing Aon facilities.
The expansion comes as investment in AI, cloud computing and hyperscale data centres accelerates, increasing demand for insurance solutions capable for supporting larger, more complex and more capital intensive-projects through their lifecycle. The program builds on previous enhancements that increased DCLP capacity to US $ 3.5 and expanded support for operational data centres.
