Kao Data partners with Zayo to expand lit and dark fibre connectivity options

K of high-performance data centres for enterprise , cloud , HPC and AI , has announced it has signed a partnership with Zayo , a leading global communications infrastructure provider , to expand the connectivity solutions at its data centre campus in Harlow .

The partnership will see Zayo deploy two new points-of-presence ( PoPs ) at Kao Data ’ s KLON-01 data centre , which will directly enable new multi-Gigabit lit and dark fibre capabilities .
The new agreement and network connectivity will also allow enterprise organisations to connect directly from the US to Europe while bypassing London ’ s busy Internet routes via Zeus – Zayo ’ s ultra-low-loss , subsea fibre optic cable which runs from the UK to the Netherlands .
As one of the world ’ s leading carriers , Zayo operates one of the industry ’ s largest fibre networks and owns a Tier 1 IP backbone spanning 141,000 miles across North America and Europe . Its network provides business and missioncritical connectivity to support the digital economy and its capabilities will further strengthen Kao Data ’ s mission to provide a suite of world-class connectivity options at its Harlow campus .
Kao Data ’ s Harlow campus is renowned as the home for some of the UK ’ s most advanced highperformance computing ( HPC ) and Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) systems .
Its high-performance infrastructure platform , for example , connects some of the world ’ s most prestigious research and financial services organisations into Europe and other global destinations .

sustainably support digital infrastructure and positively impact data centre performance , have announced a partnership to develop and implement an operational sustainability strategy and execution plan .
Under the terms of the partnership , Northshore will support the creation of a programme focused on measurement , tracking and reduction of environmental impact to help benefit
AtlasEdge customers . Utilising Northshore ’ s technology platform , data collection and validation are streamlined , enabling transparent environmental performance metrics on a portfolio-wide basis .
The partnership will also see both companies work closely on executing local site audits , including assessing AtlasEdge ’ s alignment with the EU Data Centre Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency Implementation , creating multi-year capital improvement plans and carrying out metering improvement projects .
The announcement represents the latest move by AtlasEdge towards supporting the development of a truly sustainable digital society . The company became a signatory of the Climate Neutral Data Center Pact in December 2022 and recently secured a € 725 million financing facility which included several sustainability-linked targets focused on efficiency and renewable energy usage .
