American investment firm Bain Capital is reportedly exploring the sale of its data centre operations in China, known as WinTriX DC Group. Sources familiar with the matter suggest the potential transaction could value the business at over US $ 4 billion.
Bain Capital has engaged with advisory firms, who have initiated preliminary discussions with potential purchasers in recent months. The sources, speaking anonymously, indicated the information is not yet public.
WinTriX’ s China operations, previously known as Chindata Group Holdings, are estimated to generate earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation( EBITDA) of approximately 4 billion yuan in 2025.
Neither Bain Capital nor WinTriX DC Group have provided official comments on the potential sale. The move comes nearly two years after Bain Capital took the then Nasdaq-listed Chindata in a deal valued at US $ 3.16 billion. Bain Capital initially acquired Chindata in 2019 and subsequently merged it with Southeast Asian operator Bridge Data Centres.
