RETN ADDS MEDLOOP SUBSEA ROUTE FOR RESILIENT CONNECTIVITY
RETN, a leading global network provider, has integrated spectrum services from the new Medloop Cable System, establishing a vital subsea route between Marseille and Milan. The strategic addition, alongside a spectrum upgrade on the Marseille-Paris link, boosts RETN’ s network diversity, capacity and resilience.
The Medloop Cable System, managed by Sipartech, offers a low-latency, high-capacity connection from Marseille to Genoa and Barcelona, providing an alternative to traditional European routes. The integration reduces reliance on congested transit points, enhancing redundancy in Southern Europe and strengthening RETN’ s ability to ensure uninterrupted connectivity across the continent.
The move also addresses growing demand for diverse routing options, bolstering critical infrastructure resilience.
“ Southern Europe’ s connectivity landscape is evolving rapidly, and RETN is committed to enabling secure, high-performance and truly diverse network options,” said Milko Ilari, Head of Southern Europe at RETN.“ By integrating the Medloop Cable System, we are extending our end-to-end resilience strategy – eliminating single points of failure and ensuring direct, high-capacity paths from Milan to Amsterdam, London, Madrid and other key destinations. This is part of our broader vision to decentralise traffic flows and provide enterprise and wholesale customers with best-in-class reliability.”
RETN is one of the fastest growing independent Eurasian network services providers, awarded the title of Innovation Disruptor of the Year, at the prestigious Global Connectivity Awards 2024.
Vertiv, a major global provider of critical digital infrastructure solutions, has announced the worldwide release of Vertiv SmartRun, a prefabricated overhead infrastructure system that will significantly accelerate the fit-out process for new and upgraded data centres.
The modular solution is designed to integrate essential data centre components, including high-density power distribution busbars, liquid cooling pipes, hot-aisle containment, and network cabling, into a single, scalable unit.
prefabricated stainless steel piping. The approach simplifies the design, fabrication and initial setup of liquid cooling systems, offering a single point of contact for end-to-end liquid cooling support within the data centre environment.
“ As digital infrastructure demands evolve, organisations require solutions that accelerate growth without adding complexity,” said Viktor Petik, Senior Vice President, Infrastructure Solutions at Vertiv.
The Vertiv SmartRun system has a pre-assembled, plug-andplay design, combined with a simplified single-lift installation method, allows for deployment up to 85 % faster than traditional on-site construction. According to the company, the speed can enable data centre installations exceeding one megawatt of capacity per day with just one installation team. The preengineered system also reduces the amount of labour needed for engineering reviews and the installation of various overhead systems, providing a more streamlined approach to infrastructure integration.
Additionally, Vertiv SmartRun uses new heat removal technologies that can handle AI workloads. The system integrates a dedicated fluid network into its design, featuring
