F E A T U R E trip the breaker. If you put two 10-amp outlets on a breaker, it will keep tripping. The solution is to provide dedicated protection at each outlet, each with its own breaker or fuse. It’ s recommended to have 10kAIC or over as the standard interrupt rating. This way, whenever a trip occurs, it immediately alerts the end user.
High density is not just about the number of outlets on the PDU; it’ s also about the number of breakers. For example, if someone is deploying eight servers, each with six outlets, that’ s 48 breakers to monitor. That is why having advanced metrics, such as circuit breaker trip forensics and trip current measurement, have become essential, so that all your outages are captured when they occur or even before.
How does the Raritan PX4 intelligent PDU specifically address the need for load balancing in complex GPU cluster deployments?
All our Raritan PX4 rack PDU products include both standard and advanced power metering capabilities. But when it comes to load balancing, it’ s plug-and-play. We offer a power calculator on our website. Customers enter the load of each server power supply deployed in that rack, and the tool provides a visual guide for how an operator should go about plugging into those units and how to maintain balance across the rack.
From an intelligence perspective, we offer per-outlet monitoring – not just voltage and amperage, but comprehensive metrics at both the outlet and inlet levels. This ensures balanced loads and improved overall rack efficiency.
How does Raritan address the challenge of outlet type by adapting the PDU for new, higherdensity, and temperature connectors while maintaining serviceability?
We offer standard and custom PDUs to support C22 and Anderson Saf-D-Grid ® connector requirements.
The C22 socket is rated to operate at 155 ° C. However, realworld data centre environments rarely exceed 40 ° C. The challenge is that vendors require a specialised cable capable of handling 155 ° C, but currently, such cables are not widely available. To address this, we are developing a CX4 outlet that supports C13, C15, C19, and C21 connections on the PDU. This single-outlet design accommodates multiple outlet combinations, providing greater flexibility and simplifying deployment. Our PDUs are rated for operation to 60 ° C, in line with our standard specification, and are fully compatible with all IT equipment.
