FORUM MARKETS AND EDGE NODE AI LAUNCH US INFERENCE NETWORK
Forum Markets and Edge Node AI are to deploy highperformance AI inference computing across existing powered data centres and mobile communications towers in the US.
The initial portfolio includes 2 MW of capacity at a Dallas data centre, a 9 MW campus in High Point, North Carolina and an initial Texas communications tower deployment offering approximately 1-2 MW.
The Dallas facility currently operates approximately 2 MW of power, with capacity expected to increase to around 4 MW by early 2027. The joint venture will receive 2 MW, while Edge Node AI already operates the remaining 2 MW.
In High Point, the venture has signed an agreement to acquire a six-building, five-acre campus with 9 MW of live utility power. Approximately 6 MW of GPU capacity is expected to energise in the first quarter of 2027.
The first mobile tower installation is expected by mid-2027, under separate agreements with SBA Communications and Tillman Infrastructure. Additional tower sites could follow, subject to performance milestones, with further installations dependent on financing and commercial demand.
The venture will focus on inference workloads, which run trained AI models in production. Its metropolitan locations are intended to reduce latency by placing GPU computing closer to customers.
The network will follow a hub-and-spoke model, with data centres supporting smaller computing installations at communications towers. Existing power, connectivity and permits are intended to accelerate deployment compared with new construction.
Edge Node AI, an approved NVIDIA partner, will license its variable-load inference technology and provide technical personnel to operate the infrastructure.
RETN, the independent global network service provider, has announced the addition of a sixth subsea route to its high-capacity network backbone for the Taiwan market, further diversifying and strengthening network resilience for customers in and beyond the island.
In response to recurring subsea cable disruptions around Taiwan and growing demand for data-intensive workloads such as AI, RETN now operates six physically diverse subsea routes serving Taiwan: four between Taipei and Hong Kong and two between Taipei and Tokyo. The newly added Taipei-Hong Kong route increases the number of independent international paths available to customers, providing greater flexibility and resilience when individual cables are impaired.
These routes are intentionally engineered to avoid single points of failure. They terminate in multiple, geographically separate data centres rather than a single centralised carrier hotel and they leverage different landing points, terrestrial corridors and equipment vendors. This design reduces the risk that a disruption in one corridor or facility will cascade across all of a customer’ s international traffic.
RETN LAUNCHES SIXTH TAIWAN SUBSEA ROUTE, STRENGTHENING NETWORK RESILIENCE
Recent cable disruptions across Asia, particularly around Taiwan, have shown how quickly a single fault, or several faults within the same corridor, can lead to congestion, higher latency and packet loss on alternative long-haul routes.
These disruptions caused RETN to add an additional Taipei- Hong Kong subsea route to protect customers, with a plan to interconnect with more local data centres in support of Taiwan’ s‘ Smart Technology Island’ vision in the future, noted Oswald Huang, Managing Director of RETN for the Taiwan market.
