The first project , back in 2014 , involved AGH ’ s firewall . Another vendor set it up , but it was not a good experience because the technical team did not have the skill set to implement what the salesperson had promised based on AGH ’ s requirements . We turned to C1 , which immediately brought the right engineers to the project and did a great job .
In 2016 , AGH ’ s RFP process ended up awarding a data centre build to another vendor , but once again , the project had several issues related to the network and the infrastructure that the vendor could not fix . Even though C1 had not been awarded the project , they stepped in with the right technical skills and resources and resolved the issues .
That cemented C1 as AGH ’ s preferred vendor , and since then , C1 has helped with multiple projects , including those related to staff augmentation and network improvement .
In 2020 , when two key team members – a network administrator and a server administrator – left AGH , we recognised that quickly refilling those positions in rural New Mexico would be a challenge . We turned to C1 managed services , which not only provided the required skills but also offered 24 / 7 coverage , enabling my team and I to sleep better at night , knowing we would be notified of any issues and that they would be addressed immediately .
This is why today AGH always thinks of C1 as a partner , not just a vendor – and why , in 2022 , when the hospital ’ s current IT infrastructure was reaching its end-of-life , C1 was the obvious choice to help launch a new data centre .
AGH had the same great partnership experience on this project . which was a testimony to how well the execution happened .
Phase two involved the migration of the firewalls and the network security gear from the old data centre to the new data centre , including the planning and upfront work necessary to make the move with minimal downtime . C1 converted all the servers and storage and moved the core network . The hospital experienced only 30 minutes of downtime , which was far less than the two hours C1 had quoted to the executive team at the outset of the project . This was due to the responsiveness of the C1 team account managers as well as onsite technicians for ensuring that the migration proceeded smoothly .
Any issues that arose after the data centre migration were quickly addressed by C1 ’ s support team , who responded quickly to solve problems before they affected hospital operations .
What were some of the more challenging unforeseen issues encountered during the data centre migration , and how did C1 ’ s team handle them in real time ?
One issue was that after initiating the project with C1 , AGH realised that supply chain issues were causing construction delays . Instead of pushing back on the hospital , C1 helped find a more effective approach to the upgrade and held the ordered equipment for six months until the hospital was ready .
Another issue was that after agreeing with C1 on an initial statement of work , the IT team received an executive order setting a much smaller window of acceptable network downtime for the upgrade . Once again , instead of pushing back or charging an extra fee , C1 made adjustments to ensure AGH could meet the executive timeframes for downtime .
Can you share more details on how C1 ’ s managed services enabled AGH ’ s internal IT staff to shift focus from day-to-day operations to strategic initiatives ? What specific initiatives have they been able to pursue ?
Thanks to C1 ’ s managed services , AGH ’ s internal IT staff is no longer engaged in the day-to-day operation of the infrastructure , which means they can devote all their time to working on strategic initiatives . Further , the value of having C1 monitoring the infrastructure at night has reduced the risk for AGH .
How does C1 ’ s infrastructure support the hospital ’ s integration of emerging technologies , such as GenAI , in patient care ? Can you give examples of how GenAI has improved patient outcomes so far ?
The C1-managed infrastructure was designed to support the types of GenAI use cases that are increasingly being used in patient settings to provide improved care . While specific projects have not been defined , AGH is looking to implement Microsoft
